Rosarno Film Festival

Mediterranean Hope, programma migranti e rifugiati della Federazione delle Chiese Evangeliche in Italia, e la Rete delle Comunità Solidali,

con l’adesione di: RiVolti ai Balcani, Altreconomia, Comune-Info, Sos Rosarno, FuoriMercato -autogestione in movimento , Sea Watch, ResQ,  Confronti, Cinema Metropolis Umbertide, Cinema postmodernissimo Perugia.

organizzano una rassegna di cortometraggi (durata massima 20’) sul tema dello sfruttamento del lavoro, dei braccianti e non solo, con racconti di vita dei lavoratori.

La visione dei film si svolgerà il 14, 15 e 16 ottobre 2022 nel quartiere EraNuova di San Ferdinando, nella Piana di Gioia Tauro, con una giuria composta dagli stessi lavoratori stagionali.

Il cinema non è solo una fabbrica di sogni. È anche strumento di indagine sociale e di supporto alle pratiche sociali, di critica e denuncia delle tante forme di sfruttamento, strumento di raccordo conoscitivo tra culture diverse.

Premi  

Data la particolarità, l’originalità, la sperimentazione della rassegna, i premi (primo -secondo e menzione) avranno un valore aggiunto perché verranno decisi direttamente dai lavoratori braccianti.

Specifiche tecniche

I film devono essere inviati in formato con estensione Mpg4 con dimensione massima di 2 GB. Si consiglia di inviare I film in formato 1920×1080, via wetransfer

La selezione delle opere è a cura e a giudizio insindacabile della direzione artistica. Al termine della pre-selezione gli autori verranno informati sul risultato telefonicamente o via email.

Ken Loach, regista e attivista da sempre impegnato su temi sociali, invierà un saluto di incoraggiamento e sostegno a questa nuova iniziativa che vuole accendere i riflettori sulle condizioni di vita dei braccianti.

ROSARNO FILM FESTIVAL “OUT OF THE GHETTO”

Mediterranean Hope – Refugee and Migrant Programme of the Federation of Protestant Churches in Italy (FCEI) Mediterranean Hope, and the Rete delle Comunità Solidali (network of inclusive communities), together with: RiVolti ai Balcani, Altreconomia, Comune-Info, Sos Rosarno, FuoriMercato – autogestione in movimento, Sea Watch, ResQ, Confronti, Cinema Metropolis Umbertide, Cinema postmodernissimo Perugia, organise a festival of short films (maximum length 20 minutes) on the topic of exploitation of labour, day labourers and more, with stories of worker’s lives.

The viewing of the movies will take place on the 14th, 15th and 16th of October 2022 in the neighbourhood of San Ferdinando, on the Piana di Gioia Tauro. The jury will be made up of seasonal workers.

“Cinema is not a mere dream factory. It is also a tool for social investigation and support for social practices, critique and denunciation of the many forms of exploitation, a tool for cognitive connection between different cultures”.

Awards

Considering the distinctive traits, the authenticity and the experimentation of the festival, the awards (first, second and mention) will have an added value since they will be directly decided by the labourers.

Technical Specifications

The movies have to be sent in Mpg4 format and have a maximum dimension of 2GB. We recommend sending the movies in 1920×1080 format, via wetransfer.

At the end of the pre-selection, the authors will be informed of the result by phone or per email. The works have to be sent to the following email address: fuoridalghetto2022@gmail.com by the 10th of September 2022.

Ken Loach, movie director and activist, who has always been committed to social issues, will send his greeting to support and encourage this new initiative that aims at turning the spotlight on the living conditions of seasonal workers.
