NATIONAL COORDINATION ROME

National coordination of MH - Refugee and Migrant Programme is based at the Federation of Protestant Churches in Italy (FCEI) in Rome. The Rome office coordinates management and reception of people who have arrived through our humanitarian corridors ( HC), some of whom are destined for facilities linked to FCEI, others to the Diaconia Valdese or other bodies and associations. The office also manages various cases of people referred by churches, private individuals and associations, dealing with socio-legal and healthcare guidance, psychological support, and school and job placement.

Through the Dublinati project - financed by the Otto Per Mille fund of the Lutheran Protestant church - MH supports cases reported by foreign churches of the so-called ' Dublinati', people who, although living in other European countries, are sent back to Italy (their country of first entry into Europe) by the authorities of the sending State, according to the application of the Dublin Regulation. The project provides support, monitoring and hosting in Italy and in the countries of departure.

The Rome office also ensures participation in awareness-raising campaigns on migration issues, Protestant representation, and relations with international Protestant and ecumenical organisations, including the Churches' Commission for Migrants in Europe (CCME), which is based in Brussels. MH participates in institutional round-tables and working groups, collaborates with other associations and NGOs, undertakes advocacy at a national, European and global level. The Rome office also coordinates MH volunteering. Thanks to its internationally recognised experience in pioneering and managaing humanitarian corridors, MH is partner and lead partner in two AMIF (European Asylum and Migration Fund )funded projects to develop a coordinated network of new and existing complementary access routes, and a national framework for “ community sponsorship” for Italy. These are the SAFE project ( based in France and Italy, in collaboration with OXFAM) and the COMET project COMET (COMplementary pathways nETwork, involving 14 partners from 7 different countries: Italy, France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, United Kingdom, Spain).
